Private Residence III

Palo Alto
This historic Birge Clark designed house was in very poor condition when the new owner purchased it. The wiring and plumbing were failing, the kitchen had not been updated since the 1930's and the house was infested with termites.

Our office was tasked to bring the house into livable condition, update the building systems, expand the house and to do all of that while maintaining its historic qualities.

We achieved this by carefully designing each component sympathetically with the original, selecting appropriate finishes, maintaining as many original elements as possible, and working very closely with the contractor and subcontractors on key elements like plaster finish, iron railings and cabinet details.
